Its not every wife or partner that would allow a downstairs room to be fully taken over by a model railway & full size piano along with synths etc. So as far as possible, I have finished the timber construction of the railway with polished, varnished wood. She is delighted, so that pleases me even more. I have never wanted a roundy-roundy model railway. I like the idea of a train going somewhere, & that is what the fiddle-yards permit. Fiddle-yards are in effect the off stage bits. There are nine on our railway which means that eighteen mainline trains can journey across the viewing area without a repeat. That's better than the BBC (only a joke). Plus what is generated from the visible area. It takes too long to complete all of that in one play session, even when my grandson is here. It took Sean & his dad several hours on boxing day evening just to do half of the sequences. What is so funny is that I often forget what loco is on any train, so when it appears days later, it's like real trainspotting. "Quick, where's my note book & pencil?". I want us all on this site (HCF) to think of this model as our model. My involvement on this site, nearly two years now, is shaping how I/we develope the model into the coming years. I do not have the space or skill to do a spesific copy of any part of Coventry, but we can create the right impression. I hope you enjoy the pics.
