Most trainspotters in the fifties & sixties loved the hustle & bustle of a busy station or junction with trains every few minutes. For me, after such a morning, nothing was so nice as finding a secluded spot, maybe out in the sticks where I could sit, eat my piece & soak up the atmosphere of what by then was nearly a bygone age. This photo captures that mood for me. The hullabaloo has all died down, so much so that the crew of this GW Collett have left their loco on the main through line whilst they soak up the afternoon sun. They are awaiting clearance to run through Burrow Hill in order to collect a few vans to bring back to Bramble Lane for cleaning.
