Until my son arrived, (via the night mail), my interest in mainline railways almost vanished. Funny though, if when we as a family went out for a summer-time drink, we always seemed to arrive at a pub next to a railway line. The Royal Oak at Wolston for example. The speed of the electrics rushing by soon took hold of my boys interest. One thing led to another & my interest took off again in support of him. That's my excuse. We are now well into the third generation of railway interest. Our interest brought good friendship at Coventry railwaymans club where I had the honour to play at several functions as well as retirements. Happy times for me to remember & now share here.
