Thanks for the clue, Rob, the picture is March 1960, Mr J Pinkava, Czech Chargé d'affaires, and the Lord Mayor of Coventry Alderman W H Edwards. From the CET. The silver model was made by the sailors of the ship.

Behind her are the Sky Blue players with Jimmy Hill on the left and the Lady mayoress, Mrs. Elsie Jones is on the right. They then went to St. Mary's Hall for a civic reception. 30th April 1964." - Coventry Evening Telegraph.

Dolls Hospital anyone? None of my commercial directories (thanks for those again, Heathite!) cover the era I think this one is from. That looks like the GEC behind so I'm thinking somewhere around Albion Street?

Think it might be Queen Victoria Road, opposite the Drill Hall.

Yes, it was number 62. In newspaper articles and ads, Helen, Mr Mark Dent was evicted in January 1960 after his battles with the council for compensation. Before he was evicted he gave away £2000 worth of dolls to various charities. The shop was in the line of the shopping precinct which was to link Shelton Square with Queen Victoria Road, I presume The City Arcade.

Dear all I have updated the Arthur Cooper archive with the captions generated so far. Thank you all for your hard work. I'm looking for a way to search for empty captions - as ever, do look at the spreadsheet first and then go to that section on the system. Ben

Nice one, Ben. It’s been good fun identifying. Easier searches would be great as you need to cycle through from the start again to get back to the point you were last on, if carrying on the next day, etc.

Is this a hospital? I thought it was Wheatley Street School at first. Not sure what's going on.

Ben, post #46 is Gulson Road Hospital… …and #47 I don't think is Cov as that looks like a beach to me!

I agree with picture 47 being more like the seaside. There are several places with cafes called Devonia, the cafe on the right hand side. There was one on Cleethorpes but I can't spot where it would be.
