Crest Hotel, M6 Jct 2, Walsgrave Road

Having worked here '87-'91 I am interested to know when it was actually built and if there's anyone on here or related to anyone who worked here over the years. Many thanks

I find that dates on Old-Maps are not always accurate but from that it looks like early 80's (not on the 1980 map) although I did think it was older than that.

Wasn't it also known as the Esso Motel?

This hotel opened in 1972 or 73, I remember visiting the lounge with friends to check it out as we lived close to the "new hotel"

I worked there in 1974, it was The Esso Hotel then.

There wasn't a petrol station there, nor were there rooms for truck drivers. I do seem to remember staff accommodation, below the restaurant, however my wife and I were lucky enough to be given a hotel room, during the time we worked there.

I worked there as well in early 90s. Lynne Snow was General Manager. Great hotel at the time.

Yes, Lynne took over from Paul Foster - great manager

I worked at the Crest in the 80s. Mr Foster was the manager.
