Hello, No joke, I get things wrong when I think that I'm right. Have you any enlightenment regards those beautifully furnished buses. Even as late as 1963, I remember playing for a Christening service for members of Coventry's council where by their choice of vehicle, they chose one of those KVC, buses, possibly 156. The quality of ride, quiet in motion, they would match any stretch limo that I see today. Thank you for your warmth & reply. Hold tight. Ding, ding.

Thank you, Wonderful. I never went to Manor House, but the KVC, class were regulars on the No17 to Bagington village, which went from Broadgate past my school. 8.40am was mine to school.

On 15th Jun 2012 2:39am, dutchman said: I'm too young to remember Coventry trams but a bloke I knew many years ago by the name of 'Arthur' told me he cried the day after the Blitz because he knew then the tramway system would be scrapped as a result of the bombing. It was already being phased-out in any case but the Blitz hastened the process by several years.
Hello. I can just about recall the trams as we lived in Churchill Ave. and the Tram Sheds were at the top of the hill just past Lythalls Lane, Foleshill, looking towards Longford. I think there must have been a pretty regular service as I remember locals queueing at the bottom of our road saying if you had just missed one 'look to the hilltop there will soon be another one in sight soon'.

One of the old Trams that was purchased and repurposed can been seen in this CD image -

I think this is the old Priestleys Bridge Tram depot in the 80s with the track still visible - used by the council for the then present day vehicle storage -

And a great article circa 1983 shared on FB and added here with his permission by Gordon Elund - It was his Great Grandmother (hope you can all read it!) Trying to locate the tram piccy -

Sorry Neil it is not from 1983 as we neither had conductors then, they went in 1980, nor buses with double doors, they were all converted to single door. The article is from the CET supplement called 'Eve' dated either '73 or '74. I saved the article myself and had it for years before giving it to another enthusiast. A member of this forum CKV 1D. Maybe if he still has it he could look at the date.

Thanks both - '83 was the date Gordon supplied - I'll pass that on. Thumbs up I should've spotted that from the Renault 17 Ad!

The Coventry Council depot which had been a tram depot was the Housing Department depot in Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate and in the 70's the floors were cobbles with the old tram tracks still in place. The tram entrance was from Foleshill Rd and the tracks could still be seen right up until the whole place was demolished. I am sure there was something in the Coventry Telegraph about someone trying to rescue a piece of the trackwork before it was consigned to the skip.

I saved a small bit of the track from Foleshill and it is on display at the Coventry Watch Museum (Trams ran along Spon Street); In situ at Foleshill before lifting; Nothing got in the paper about me saving any.
