Dear all My mother, Barbara Mackay (Miss Dixey), taught at Courthouse Green Primary School in the mid 60s. She always remembers Miss Hasten, Mr Batt and Christine who taught recorder. She is 82 now and very well. I am a church organist who is also very interested in historic churches in Coventry. I seem to remember St John's in the centre of the city being a very High church. Best wishes Barbara and Hugh Mackay

I'm pleased to have found this forum and others with fond memories of Courthouse Green Schools. I started at the infant school in 1962 and went on through the junior school leaving in 1968. I was fortunate to be inspired by some outstanding teachers, Mr Batt, Mrs Cook (music) and the newly qualified Mr Parker they were all committed and invested much in their pupils education and welfare. Having recently retired as headteacher of a village primary school after 40 years in the teaching career I appreciate how these teachers shaped my life and instilled values that have served me and others so well. I wish I could shake their hands. In my class was my best friend Denise Watkins who also lived in Tallants Road. Susan Bull, Janet Cox, Simon Prewitt, Annette Curran, Valerie Wilson. It would be lovely to hear from anyone in the recorder or netball group. We used to travel to Bourneville music festival each year and compete against many other schools under the direction of Mrs Cooke who also competed in the adult class with two other colleagues calling themselves "The Three Spires" a wonderful experience in the Cadbury factory grounds. I think we often did well in the competition but that may be the warm fuzzy of nostalgia?

Marsh. Annette Curran is my sister, still lives in Coventry. In those far off days our family lived in Proffitt Avenue. I'll tell Annette that you have posted on this site. As the eldest I was first of the family to attend Courthouse Green infants and juniors, 1953-1959, before going on to Caludon. Mr Fred Batt was my class teacher in Upper 4. Miss Enid Ward was another outstanding teacher.

Welcome to the new members from me, too. I wonder if you might recognise some of the pupils who get a mention on this page about Courthouse Green School?

Lovely to make links. I have photos somewhere, I'll try and dig them out and post them. I wonder if Annette remembers our sports day chant "we won the war in 1964"

Was that the same Miss Ward that was at Annie Osborn? If so, she was a truly inspiring lady.

Is there anyone out there who went to Courthouse Green Infants or Juniors in the 70's or early 80's?
