Warning - every now and then a picture turns up that isn't Coventry. In my opinion Pinterest is often to blame. It was particularly bad when it first started because it swamped the search engines. Because of the way it encourages people to make and share pins (collections of photos), the images can become tagged with the wrong label. Sometimes it's obvious, eg. someone with an interest in Scuba and Coventry. One is clearly not the other but if the interest was Wednesbury and Coventry then the pictures of one old place look much the same as another. Similarly if the interest is war time photography then any number of towns might be connected to Coventry but not be it.

It's been a while since we added something to this topic.
Birmingham has a collection of Coventry photos etc here. If you right click on the dark blue file name and select Open in New Tab, you won't have to keep restarting the main list. It won't work if you click on the thumbnail (small picture). There are a few rare images including an early view of Charterhouse and the rear upstairs room of Palace Yard here. The photo looks south east. It's the opposite side of the window wall shown in the more familiar view below.

I tried 'zooming' in but couldn't read any signs which might be a give away, (Shop Window/Street) etc. so can't help you there.

It's Cross Cheaping, looking towards Bishop Street. A nice one. The first opening on the right is Ironmonger Row.

Of course - Bishop Street looks so much steeper in that one - that's what threw me..... plus a rare capture of the building on the corner...

Great to see this collection of photos - some of which I have not seen before. This one particularly caught my eye and is listed as Priory Row. Would this have been at the eastern end and where the new cathedral is located?

It's what we refer to as Trinity Lane William looking South. It's an unusual capture though as most images of the Lane look North towards Priory Row and Lychgate Cottages. This was the view the other way - wonderfully atmospheric pics - They are the rears of the properties that faced on to Butcher Row -
