Simmo boxed initially for Standard Triumph then for Edgwick Trades and Labour in Cross Road, Foleshill. He was a Warwickshire schools champion so was very good.
He had two brothers, Peter and Brian.

Lived on King Edward road in the 50s went to Freddie's at the same time as Barry , remember him as being as good kid always had a smile on his face.I always used to go up the road to get my hair cut at his dad's barber 💈. It's amazing now when I think back how time seems to have gone by so quickly and now here I am at 76 . Rest in peace Barry!

I lived in Ranby Road and knew Barry from Freddies. When I moved to Dorset and used to return for City games I often popped in for a chat and a haircut. He was a big pal of Pete Waterman.
Rest in Peace Barry.
