I don't even think it's Costains anymore, I remember the building though.

The Drott that I am stood by in my gallery once belonged to W.H. Jones. I have more pics of plant that was disposed of when they changed to Costains and I will sort them out and put them on here. Thumbs up

Thanks for the answer, Norm. Sorry I don`t know how to find your gallery, but I had a look at some of your other posts and it was obvious you were around the building/knock it down scene when I was in Coventry, 1963/75. I also worked for Truscon on Manor Farm 17 storey block and the Sports and Computer Centre at University of Warwick. Then for Gleeson at The Uni including the theatre, chapel and block next to it, all Forticrete masonic blocks and white tiles. The joke was when her Maj came on a visit, she was there for a White Tile Shoot - the bloody things were always flying off. Was there during the builders' strike - seem to remember it was brickie students at the University registered with the union who pulled our lads out Our foreman carpenter on one job, left and went to work for Rootes - cleaning out the toilets - he got better money! Bppm Town. Webster and Hemmings, glad to hear they are still going, seem to remember we used to get Semi Engineering Bricks from there
