The Coventry Telegraph website reports a man who built an actual 3D model of the city in his living room. It's supposed to represent the medieval period, about 1509. There is a video tour, unfortunately not in landscape. The article mentions a website, Visit Historic Coventry, but Google fails to find it.

The CT article refers to a Facebook page, here is the link - Visit Historic Coventry. Looks an interesting site!

Hi, Yes it was me who built the model, actually in my loft workshop, then set up in my lounge, luckily it all came together. I'm working on some extra buildings to make it more authentic. I will add some photos and video if I can. As was said it's a Facebook page. I also run "Visit Historic Coventry" - please feel free to view. Pete

Thanks for that Pete. Here's the link to the video of the model on YouTube.

I have just viewed this gorgeous piece of art and it left me breathless. I wasn't sure what to expect on this thread but it's on my view list now.

In reply to neilsyard post 55 in the Coventry lost subways thread: "mcsporran did you get any further with this digital mapping?" This last version of the model was from June 2018, after that Sketchup versions were no longer free so my interest died. The main issue with the model was I'd started it based on a flat map of the city centre and applying realistic terrain subsequently, made it increasingly difficult to build new structures. The skp file is still available if anyone would like a copy, but I'm unsure if any recent version of the software will load it.
