The x2 properties that make up the old Nat West Bank (part of the Earlsdon Conservation Area numbers 34 and 36 Earlsdon Street) have just been illegally pulled down. Thank you for that Neil,
A similar activity took place in Beake Ave, where a listed farm cottage was pulled down by developers, building the houses in the vicinity.
There were prolonged prosecutions, back in the fifties. I didn't live in the area at that time. |

This great pic has just surfaced on the FB Earlsdon Local Message Board from the Telegraph Archive. It was taken on the day of the first Earlsdon Festival in 1978 and Earlsdonites here might recognise Mr and Mrs Mills standing in the doorway of their card shop. I remember the shop well - it was a little tight to walk around in parts and the steps up to the rear, however, it was a good place for that forgotten Birthday! The Moor St side of the building later 'mysteriously' subsided and it was then rebuilt to create what we see today - and named after - Millsy's Wine Bar and Bistro.
