Hi Slash1. Yes, my dad was Stan Strong who worked at Laxon when they were at Charter Ave. My mum Mabel also worked there running the canteen.

Did he not work as manager of goods in at Gas Street, too.?

Quite a few union players joined Godiva Harriers and competed for the club in the summer, mostly sprints and some times field events. Did any players play any other sport at a high level

Hi, just came across this thread. My brother in law, Nobby Bolton played for Coventry late 60s Early 70s. He made his debut the same day as David Duckham and was top try scorer for the club a few times around 71/72. He played for Cov, Warwickshire and Midland Counties and was non travelling reserve for England a few times. He ran for Godiva Harriers, and turned down a place in the Mexico Olympics to play for Coventry; he had 9.6 sec for 100yds, and was one of the fastest players in the country at the time. Sadly he died in Australia in 2008, I'm currently putting together as many news clips and photos for my sister's 80th Birthday next year, so if anyone has any team pictures of around this time I'd be eternally grateful.

Hi Epakcor, welcome to the forum Hopefully someone might be able to help you. We certainly have a few Godival Harriers members here. While not fully (or even mostly) tagged there are photos of Coventry teams at Coventry Digital here where masses of photos from the Coventry Telegraph have and are being added.

Epakcor, if you have not already read it I would recommend this book, " MAJESTIC COV " ( Once the kings of English Rugby ) by Steve " Scribble " Evans, published by Takahe Publishing Ltd. Registered Office, 77 Earlsdon Street, Coventry CV5 6EL. In the list of players it mentions J.P. ' Nobby ' Bolton ' who played on the wing, first season given as 1968/69 and last season as 1973/74 with a total of 179 appearances scoring 122 tries. He is also listed as playing for Midlands and Warwickshire. David Duckham's first season is given as 1966/67 and his last as 1978/79 with 239 appearances and scoring 147 tries. ' Nobby ' Bolton is mentioned several times in the book.
