Who do these mums and dads belong to and did you know they were out? At the Navigation Inn.

No one I know, but it is an interesting shot. The diners on the right appear to have half pint glasses filled with a dark liquid, can't imagine it being cola somehow!! Notice the serving staff to the right of the bar wearing whites and most of the gents (including the bar man) wearing ties. We seem to have lost that sense of occasion these days, few of us actually dress up to go out, casual seems to be the order of today.

Yes Bad Boy, The barman's name is Reg and May also behind the bar is my mother. My father, Bill, is the gent on the top right in glasses. It was always made a special event for the pensioners and they loved dressing up for the occasion. No it wasn't coke either (Watneys). Cheers

Hi Dreamtime, Don't the women all look smart in their hats. My mum loved to wear a hat, she never felt dressed up without one. Wave

Hi Tricia, Hi all Wave My mum too. She sold ladies hats in her shop, but her favourite trip was once a year to a London fashion show, where she always came home with her own new 'titfer' as she called it. Big grin Big grin

Another one for you, probably around the same year. More hats and 'flat caps' and a few more smiles on this one. Thumbs up

I have something in common with the Queen, we both wear a scarf tied under the chin!!! Well, I used to. Smile I bet she would have enjoyed a trip and a singalong on the bus. Thumbs up

Hello Dreamtime, I wonder if you remember a barmaid called Vera Bailey? She worked at the Navigation throughout the sixties. She was my mother-in-law. We could not see her on you photos. Colin. Big grin

Hello there RKid, she might have been in the front bar. Was she blonde, always used to say 'charming' when answering you. If it is the lady I am thinking of I can only say my father was very lucky with his staff. He used to say "look after your staff and they will look after you" and I can honestly say he was right. We used to have some laughs with the pensioners. There is one amongst them aged 94, cheeky old whatsit he was ! I should think most of the old dears are pushing up the daisies by now bless em'. I am going before I start blubbing. These old photos bring back such great memories. Cheers Colin Cheers 'What we want is Watneys' Cheers

Now, now MR, each to his own. Although my dad was an Ansells man, not like the frozen stuff you get here. I myself like a nice drop of Baileys over ice. Cheers

Hi Dreamtime, My grandparents were in The Navigation coach party. My grandmother is standing in front of the man by the drainpipe, wearing a white hat and glasses and my grandad is to her right, wearing a flat cap, slightly tilted. They were Alf and Edith Taylor and lived in Tackford Road for 35 years and went to The Navi during that time. The Navi was their second home, they went there every night and there had to be 3 feet of snow to stop them! My gran could play the piano and was asked on several occasions to play the piano in the bar for the regulars to have a sing-a-long. Do any of the forum members recognise anyone else in the coach party? Thanks, Mr Blue Sky
