Does anyone on here that lived/grew up around Wyken/Stoke Heath area, remember "Old Ma Busby"? Lived somewhere close to Meadway/Hillside, there was a narrow path leading to allotments I think. Any memories?

Hi slash1, I remember Mrs Busby well. During the school holidays I used to stay with my nan in Bartons Meadow and she was a regular passing by with her pram. I remember her having pigs in a small area behind Blackberry Lane, I think they have built a bungalow on that land now. By coincidence I happened to work at the same place (Nuffield Tool and Gauge) as her son when I was an apprentice. I think his name was Paul but not certain. Cheers

If this is the Mrs Audrey Beatrice Busby in question. She was born 22 Feb 1902 and passed away 26 June 1975 (at Wyken Lodge, Ellacombe Road, Coventry). She was buried at St Paul's Cemetery, Foleshill, Coventry 02 July 1975, aged 74.

I found the original St Paul's Cemetery, Foleshill, Records: Audrey Beatrice Busby. Burial: 2nd July 1975. Age: 74 years old. Wyken Lodge Coventry (*) Consecrated section. Opening of grave 23 in Square 22. Internal Reference: 2/239. (*) ---> According to the 1974 'Who's Who': Wyken Lodge was a Old People's Care home of self contained flats with 42 places on Ellacombe Road, Bell Green. Matron at time: Mrs M. Doyle (previously Mrs Roberts prior). Wyken Lodge later became Henley House and then Alexandra House. Also, I tried in vain, to find Mrs Busby at Blackberry Lane in the electoral records (not helped with boundary changes of Walsgrave to Wyken, etc.).
