Does anyone remember this character from the late 70s early 80s?
He was the master of self promotion. I believe he was a car dealer (Datsun, DC Cook?) but no matter where you looked, he was right 'in your face'.
My memories, are of him commentating (don't remember the station) on Coventry City, and of his face splashed all over the back of Coventry buses in a pantomime wizard get up.

Hello
I'm fascinated with these memories.
I'm so hazy on this, but the financier on this might have been swallowed up my Mercantile credit during the crazy years of hyper inflation. During the 1980s I think. If you bought a box of chocs on the way to work, it was worth more when you took it home.
Thank you for these posts. It's fun as well as intriguing.

Thank you, Garlands.
Interesting seeing a Rover dealership mentioning Nissans.

A deviation from the main topic, but on the Datsun/Nissan theme, I think late 1970's, the emergency/night call doctor service used to use Datsun Cherry cars to convey the doctors around to the patients homes.
I vaguely recall the service operator was called Aircall.

There used to be a car showroom on the corner of Vecqueray Street, which I used to drive past on my way to work. A large sign in the window said
                              WE SPECIALISE IN BRITISH
                                 AND FOREIGN CARS
I often wondered "what other nationalities of car are there?"

Air call was indeed used by doctors, but was not limited to them. I used it as a mobile engineer in the early 80s

A little digging after I posted my chat, I recalled that Aircall handled a lot of message handling along with the out of hours doctor service. The message handling also included pagers, which were to become very prolific before mobile phones were a viable option.
Also thank you to Garlands Joke Shop for digging out that advert, and, the article, one of a few, sad events around the out of hours doctor service.
