Amazing
Any time I read anything about the school there are 2 names that always crop up - for good reason.
Mr Batt and Mrs Hasten. Wow. You knew where you stood with them two!!! Lol.
So maybe we all forgot how lovely Mrs/Miss Major was?

I was one of the first pupils to start at Courthouse Green School when it first opened in September 1951. That Headmistress Miss Hasten was disliked by everyone. Prior to Courthouse Green I was quite happy at Edgewick School although it was for one year after moving from Paradise Street School and as you say a very nice Mrs Major.

If my memory serves me right Miss Hasten and Mr Batt would turn up for School in a Black Triumph Renown which made her more scary. I don't know which one of them the car belonged to.

Sorry it's just come to me, the car was a Triumph Mayflower with all its sharp lines and not the Renown.
