Leicester Street Industrial Home for Girls

My great grandmother Selina Goode is shown as being a resident at the 43 Leicester Street Industrial Home in 1861. I have just written to member 'Heritage' but does anyone else have any information on or photographs of the home? She was born in Hill Top in 1847 which appears to have been at the back of the Cathedral and was then 'training' to be 'in service' at the home although it doesn't seem to have been a very pleasant place. She then became pregnant and was shipped off to Leicester to presumably be out of the way and avoid embarrassment for the family. Any information would really be appreciated. Kindest regards Paul

I've not found any pictures of it but it was next door to the Swanswell Cottage Inn on the right of this photo.

Britain From Above 1 To the right of centre, at the top of the image. Britain From Above 2 Left of centre about three quarters up. Britain From Above 3 I think you can just about see the home if you zoom in on these images (you have to sign up). The third image is after the war and the top half of the building is gone (it's just by the blue direction arrows at the top left of the picture. I think the home is the biggish building just right of centre.

Hill Top is a steep, narrow lane which links Pool Meadow at the lower end to Priory Row at the top.

Currently on eBay, says on back that it's Leicester Road but I think it should be Street. 1906.

Thanks to Gray Forster on 'The Coventry we used to know' FB page, these are reportedly the Girls' Home/School in 1910.

Should that junction be Swanswell terrace not Swanswell street?

Well spotted argon. It was also called Swanswell Place for a while, just to confuse things.
