My uncle Paddy Healy ran a music/dance club during WW2 somewhere between The old Ball.and Gosford Green. It was frequented by service men as well as the pubic. My uncle sang there as Tony cordona/cardono. Looking for any information on where the club was or on my uncle. He and his wife lived in 84 Godiva Street. She died March 1947. He left Coventry about 1955

Hi Annie, This may be a 'way out' theory, but is it possible it wasn't a club as such??? It's just an idea and so it may be completely wrong but I just thought I'd mention it. The St Margaret's Church on Walsgrave Road is splat bang in the middle of where you described: It seemed to run music & dances regularly over decades (seemingly referred to as "The institute"): 11 March 1942 (Cov Telegraph) 05 Aug 1940 (Cov Telegraph) 20 Feb 1942 Brenda Stone wrote a book about the subject and said: "In the 50s and 60s there used to be young ladies who would go to the dances at the institute and they were encouraged to come to church - we still have the marks from their stilettos on the main floor. A lot of people met during the dances and fell in love. It was very romantic." (Coventry Telegraph 2010). These dances seemed professional and were charged admission- Is it possible this may be the place??? Or am I way out? Also: I found this on the 05 April 1947 (Cov Telegraph), which I assume is your Uncle after losing your Aunt???
