Hi all
If I could firstly introduce myself, I'm Baz, and I'm currently a serving soldier, working out of Westfield House on the Radford Road (Territorial Army centre).
I am after any history and/or stories regarding the centre from the past. I know that it was here during WW2, what type of army units worked from here during those dark days?
Also any photos would be great, I know that this building was opened in 1991 and that there was a grand old place before that, would have been good to retain some of the old place, but sadly not to be.
regards baz

The 12th Warwickshire Battalion was based there during the war.
Adjacent to the main building there where two massive nissen huts, sometime in the late 1950's these were dismantled, transported to an army base in Birmingham and reassembled.

Hi, thanks for the reply, have found reference to Dr Bill Navin who was the medical officer here for 12th Bn Warwickshire Regiment, a local well known doctor who reached the grand age of 100 years.
Perhaps I should look more at the history of that battalion, which might offer up more about Westfield house.
thanks again, baz.

My aunt and uncle, Doris and Bob Stotten, were caretakers at Westfield House in the early 60s. I remember being shown around the shooting range and the large drill hall. I also have vague memories of a small attic room where my uncle's stargazing telescope was kept. He used to take me up there and point out the different star formations.

Two memories of Westfield House drill hall.
As children we would manage, don't ask me how, to get into the drill hall where the A.A. guns were stored to get the grease from the guns to grease our three shilling roller skates.
Later memories were of the 79th Scout group having an annual Old Time dance contest for the Westfield Trophy. Happy days before the original house was demolished and the new building being erected
