A lovely story morgana. If my memory is correct when I lived at Stoke Heath in the 1940's-50's there was a dairy in Swan Lane just up the road from Freddies that had some milk floats that were pulled by horses. I wonder if Mr. Arch ever had a horse driven float.

A super idea for a topic Morgana, there must be loads of people who have done inspirational things in Coventry but aren't famous - it'll be lovely to hear about them.

Ken Dixon, he doesn't mention a horse drawn one but perhaps he did when he helped his dad, I recall a dairy down Gulson Rd, hospital way, as I was always ill as a child, then mum would go shopping around there, I would stand and watch the bottles being washed.

Thank you Rob, glad you like it. I've been thinking of it for ages when reading stories of our unsung heroes of the wars from this city. Perhaps I should have named the thread unsung heroes of Coventry.

As I like rooting through old topics, I came across this one and wondered why it faltered at only 6 posts?
I guess we all have different thoughts on what we consider to mean inspirational.
For me, one of the first people to inspire me at an early age (9 or 10) was Les Rea who was a teacher at Henry Parkes school. Les is mentioned in other topics on the forum.
