It is very sad to read of the plight of Jimmy Hill, featured for a second time in today's "Mail Online"

Hi MR. I believe his son would be helping Jimmy to remember the good times but how selfish of Bryony, what has she got to lose. It's all about making life more enjoying in his declining years. I am hoping for a better outcome for him. Good luck, Jimmy.

I feel very sad to read this about our Jimmy.
The few times I met him in the 60s he was such a polite and charming man.
I suppose we don't know the full story of the family fall out.
It's a pity they can't put their differences behind them for their dad and husband's sake.

Very sad story about Jimmy Hill. I was aware that he was suffering from this disease even when he unveiled his statue, which was his last public appearance, I believe. Bryony Hill is signing copies of her book at the Ricoh tomorrow, I believe.

An extremely sad and moving article appears in todays Daily Mail about Jimmy Hill who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and can no longer recognise nor communicate with people. There are numerous lovely photos of happier times in the article and his wife Bryony has written a book; "My Gentleman Jim: A Love Story". Read the article here.

Whilst JH's health is truly a cause for sadness, this book, as I thought it might, does appear to have enraged members of his family - report |

So sad to hear that Jimmy has died. For those Sky Blues fans that lived through those fabulous 5 years, he will always be remembered as a man years ahead of his time who put his finger on the trouble with the national team in the early eighties, following a defeat by a Scandinavian team. He said that English players were "professionals who were not masters of their craft". Not a lot has changed since then.
If only the powers that be had listened to Jim - we would have been spared the "thirty years of hurt" that is now approaching 50 years.

How we could do with his like today. Not just at CCFC, but in life.
We were lucky to have had him, and no-one who lived through those fabulous years will ever forget them.
RIP JH.

What a damned shame, very very sad news.
What a nice genuine man he was.
I met him once in the late 70s when I worked at The Aylesford in Warwick and he came for dinner with one of his daughters. He chatted with me and asked me about my sporting interests. When I told him I played Hockey he was genuinely interested in finding out more about it. Lovely lovely man, down to earth with no airs and graces about him at all. His passing is a sad day not just for Football but for everyone.
R.I.P. Jimmy, a true gent.

First of all, my condolences to his family - a family that includes not only his wife and children but all those football fans throughout the world. Jimmy was first of all a family man and then a fan and almost everything he achieved in his football career was done so with the fans in mind.
If only politicians throughout the world, not least of all here at home, had his drive, vision and ability to see a task through from start to finish. A truly wonderful man and a truly successful man too. No stage or task was too big for our Jimmy.
A thank you too, to a man whose initial work at the City gave me so much pleasure in life. Not just the icing on the cake in '87 but those cherished thirty odd years in the top division the land had to offer. What a story our club has been and so too, has Jimmy's.
How oh how was he not Knighted and then sent to the House of Lords. A man of such wisdom.
God will be a wiser man himself tonight.
RIP.

What a fitting tribute to the great man from GregNorth, well said, sir.
RIP Jimmy, my mum never forgot the day she served you in our shop, every time she told someone you'd have thought that royalty had visited the place.
