I have been looking for but cannot find anywhere, anything relating to a floral clock.
Unless my memory has gone, or gone astray, in the gardens next to the steps by Wetherspoons, Broadgate, I am sure there was a floral clock? This would have been mid 50s to very early 60s. Anyone recall?

There is nothing mentioned in the newspaper archives. The nearest one was in Jephson Gardens in Leamington.

Thanks Anne, definitely not Jephson. My recollection of it was a small simple clock in the very first piece of that garden, it was not there for long so was it for some occasion? I can find no pictures showing that end of the garden but I am sure that is where it was.

I have a feeling I too remember one and as you say it wasn't there for long.

I have a vague memory of a floral clock in the Memorial Park, in the mid/late 60's possibly, which was somewhere close to the pavilion and backing onto the Kenilworth Road boundary. A playground area was built there in the 70's which may have taken the place of the clock, but again the memory is vague. My parents have also a vague memory that fits in with this.

I think I remember this Scrutiny. I remember the (council?) workers sitting on planks planting things around it.

I remember the raised flower beds in front of Holy Trinity, next to where Wetherspoons is now. My bus no 22 used to stop there in the 1950s/1960s. I think that's where the floral clock was. That flower bed was always maintained in superb condition!

Thanks all, at least there is more than me who remembers something about a floral clock. I cannot find anything on the internet but there are better people than me out there, help needed please.

This is exactly my memory too. I used to see the floral clock waiting for the 22 bus to Courthouse Green, next to what was then Timothy Whites. I would date that as around 1958-60, but can't say when the floral clock started or finished.

Can't find a clock but looking through the newspaper archives it looks as the display in the flowerbed was changed every year. There are pictures of various things being planted in different years including the anniversary of Toc H. Here is 1960, Girl Guide badges.

The flowers grew well, they had a lot of bone meal. No floral clock, all the ticking had stopped.
