I came across this lovely old sign last week, that is fitted on the wall of an old factory that's just a stone's throw away from Coventry's ring road and not too far away from Wheatley Street bus garage!!! It looks like the sign has seen better days judging by its condition (lol), but does anyone recognise where they might have seen it ???

Here's another view of the same sign, but this time just showing a fraction more of the building that it's fitted to!!!

On the same building and not too far away from the above pictured sign (a few feet to the left of it!) is this big hole in the wall, which I'm guessing must be some sort of air vent ???
If nobody guesses at all where this building is or the name of it, I shall reveal all within the next day or so!!! lol. |

That is my "neck of the woods" so I will give others a go. I know others on here worked across the road from that building. |

Yes, much too easy! Mind you, it's a better poser, being in a public place, than a recent one in a "restricted" area, ie Railwaymen's Club, which I doubt many forumites have ever been in! |

Here is another clue, Lord Raglan played a big part in the battle of "Alma". |

Hi scrutiny, I would say it is half the way down Alma Street on the left on the plain brick wall. I don't know the name of the building . |

Hi Dreamtime, the building used to be part of BTH. That street was my prison until I was five then I found out Coventry was a big place.
ps, just as an add on, hope Gilly and Les are enjoying their time here. |

This is one of the photos I show as part of a quiz of old Coventry buildings when I give a talk on 'The History of Coventry Godiva Harriers and other clubs in the city during the last 140 years'.
With the gasholder in the background it is difficult to reconcile where I thought it was, so, any suggestions?? Which garage roof is in shot? What are the shops in view?? The photo was taken in the mid to late 1920s. |

My guess is that it's looking up Holyhead Road from Spon Street. |

Corner of Queen Victoria Road and Spon Street, looking towards Holyhead Road with Hill Street in the background. Building on the extreme left is the Plough Hotel.
Garage is the Rootes Garage in Holyhead Road.
Edit: Helen beat me to it!
