Wave I love this picture gallery. As long as we can keep it tasteful & respect the site for what it is. I have no idea of the mobility of the members on here, but if one day, I am house-bound, I would like to think that this will always be a site to turn to for the delight of having lived in Coventry. Our members who live over-seas do express their gratitude for seing our pics from time to time. So without flanel, this is a big thank-you to Rob & his family for the time in constructing this venture. When I say family, I mean just that. My wife knows what it was like at one time to be turned into a piano widow as she called herself when I was out playing evening after evening. Good night to you all & best wishes. Wave

Afraid not Philip. Anyone using a half-decent web-browser can undo the lock with just two mouse clicks! Smile
Hi. I do not have my own flickr site, but a nice lady lets me use hers that she no longer has use for, but all of the pics are open for anyone to view. It's mostly my railway that she enjoys too. I did say nice lady. My boy calls me a friendly-user rather than a user-friendly. He knows of my lack of IT skills. Wave

I was only trying to clarify, and not to get 'heavy'. I was close to suing a dodgy local company a little while ago, and I was advised it isn't worth doing unless it;'s a large amount of dosh these days. Smile Your approach of putting copyright statements all down the middle is probably the most effective solution! But actually I like what Rob's done. I found that, having switched all of my pics to no public viewing, none of the galleries are visible at all unless I log on - just the ticket! What the eye doesn't see....... Thumbs up The best security is either the invisible or the obvious!!! Lol

I would very much like to see a picture of that Keith? Thumbs up

A question, dutchman! I believe Jaguar built some sections of the Whitley bomber, and, being interested in things that fly(!) as well as Jaguar, I wondered if any still exist. I found out that one was said to be being rebuilt from remains at the Midland Air Museum, and wondered if you have any info.... It's only listed as remains on their website.

Philip I was quite interested to see the shots of the parks that you posted. Despite living in the city for the first 38 years of my life, I never saw Longford Park, and didn't even know it existed. Quite surprised not see any litter! Smile We played cricket in the Memorial Park when I was at school and, not sure, but I think cross-country was done there too for a time. Sad (I hated cross-country)

No Whitleys were preserved. Dr Elliot Smock has a private project to rebuild a complete Whitley from a mixture of salvaged and newly made parts currently stored in a barn in Norfolk. His progress can be followed in pictures here: The Whitley Project

Wow! Many thanks for that! I had no idea because I've never seen anything about it in e.g. The Aeroplane, but I don't take aircraft mags regularly. A Hampden is being rebuilt at East Kirkby - I'll have to post the pics on the gallery. It's a shame that so many of these earlier aircraft haven't been preserved, but it's amazing what restorers have been doing. There's quite a lot coming out of Russia - and I don't mean Russian makes. The tundra preserves them surprisingly well!

Hi Keith Wave I don't want to overload the site with all-pictures, but I intend to post samples of my pics covering various areas of the city, just to give a taste for people who are house-bound, or live away like you or even overseas. There are previous topics on Longford park, Coundon Wedge & Potters Green areas that I posted back in the summer following on from my walks. You might like them, Keith. Wave ps. Someone might like to make a comment regards the two aircraft pictures included on my 'Home Gallery'. Cheers

The plane was probably caught by a crosswind at the last moment. I witnessed a similar incident at Baginton many years ago. A HS125 pilot (possibly my dad) used to pride himself on how low and fast he could bring his plane in to land there but one occasion he miscalculated and had to slam open the throttle which filled the air above the Willenhall estate with an almighty roar!
