Thomas Walton and other 'unknown persons' broke into St. Mary's Hall and stole many items, including a gilt silver cup, two silver bowls, two silver gilt covers, two silver spice dishes, small silver gilt table, a silver trumpet, a silver bowl cup and cover, two silver cups, four gilt silver spoons, a silver standing cup, a silver goblet, a silver salt cellar with cover, and twenty-four silver spoons - all the property of the Trinity Guild. (I can't be certain, but I have a feeling that he just might have liked silver!  ) |

Bill Pethers arrives in Coventry to be offered, and accept, the job by Samuel Newsome for the role of Musical Director of the Hippodrome (soon to be the new one, the following year). Bill was a favourite at the theatre until retirement in 1973.

I remember Bill Pethers who lived on the Holyhead Road, left hand side towards Allesley, but before the Toll Gate pub. He was conducting the orchestra at the new Hippodrome. Good to hear the recording of the Hippodrome Orchestra once more!

She and her mother and father attended a performance at the Hippodrome one evening.
Came the end of the show, father went missing. They eventually found him talking to Bill Pethers.
It seemed they had both been taught the violin together as young lads in Perth, Scotland, by the renowned violinist Scott Skinner.
