Great footage NeilsYard. I believe the cycling reporter was Chris Brasher who helped pace Roger Bannister to the first four minute mile in 1954. Chris later went on to become the instigator of the annual London Marathon.

Hi, it's easy to see where you entered Eagle Street but where did you enter Stoney Stanton Road. This is from a pre-ring road street guide.

I agree with what you say MR But if you notice Eagle St is named twice So what is that short bit with the triangle and two quadrilateral shapes called that is blank on the map and is the continuation of Springfield Rd to the lights at Stoney Stanton Rd.

I can't recall if I've added this one before - 1987 Footage - so posting again just to be sure(!) Not exactly a fantastically well filmed piece but interesting footage at the start of what was around at the bottom of Far Gosford Street at the time - which happened to be the day we won the Cup in '87

Thanks Neil, We remember that day well and enjoyed all the hype even living here. Whilst I was viewing that footage, I went into 'Coventry: Then and Now (50 photos)'. I cannot believe that is the Coventry I knew, even after seeing so many of the members' wonderful contributions. It's hard to grasp the changes that have been made over the years, but expected naturally, despite a few eyesores (old and new) but then every city has those. Wave

Yes Dreamtime, it's well publicised (to me especially!) of the changes made (sadly) by the war but I have to say even in the last 30 years there has been some huge changes in the city centre.

Just watched on the Talking Picture Show a film called "A City Reborn". It turned out to be Coventry. Made in 1945 it was about the proposed plans for rebuilding cities, it was a docu-drama - propaganda really and I thought pretty ugh! but there were one or two shots of ruined Cathedral etc. Was pretty well into pre-fabs as the instant solution - "Homes for the people" etc. It can also be seen on YouTube. Sorry if it`s been mentioned on here before, but I did try to find it. Also noticed the Rialto is entertaining again while on the net.
