If you go to Rugby you can get to see TWO steam trains. 46233 Duchess of Sutherland is due to stop on the Up & Down through siding (just north of platforms, east side) a10:19 d10:43 and then pass through platform 6. A4 60019 Bittern on a Euston-Chester (via Nuneaton) is due to stop in Platform 1 a10:06 d10:29. It might be possible to get a photo of the two together, but they will be on opposite sides on the station. Unfortunately I am in Somerset Sad. Both trains stop at Rugby on the way back, if they are on time they should both pass under the "wooden bridge" at 19:45. Peter.

Hi all Wave My friend & I enjoyed the spectacle of the Duchess, powering through Coventry, on time, having been checked by a slow late running commuter train in front of it. It was powering through at well over sixty. A fabulous sight. Thumbs up Two steamers from Rugby Spectators at Rugby had the delight of two steamers, recorded here on You-Tube at two locations on route travelling south. Only the Duchess travelled through Coventry.

After watching the Duchess steam through, my friend & I boarded a train to B'ham, but thought that we had been invaded. We count ourselves fortunate to have returned home safely. Oh my Two of these creatures were sat behind us on our train. "They were behind us"! ps. I quite liked the female ones, whatever they were. One had a purple face. Big grin

Hi, people, now I am not a railway enthusiast about trains, but as a kid my father made me and my brother two pedal car trains, one was the 'Silver Link', the other was the 'Flying Scotsman' both to about three foot scale, Anyone interested in telling me why they were so special. Thanks, Kaga.

Work is progressing with the construction of the Coventry Arena railway station, more commonly known as the Ricoh. Clearly this is taken from the stadium side of the line, and shows the earth being dug away last weekto accommodate the Nuneaton bound platform. Due to space constraints, this platform will be 25 metres shorter than the one towards Coventry.

I saw these two hard at work on New Year's Day. They would have been a common sight around Coventry in this livery during the 1960's and in their new liveries for many years afterwards. The Coventry station signs were at the same place.
