Thank you for that Philip. Thumbs up My bus is the 9 or 9a so it's good to know when the disruption starts. Smile

Thanks for that Philip, although they have taken their time releasing any details haven't they? It is a shame that their document can't give more info than "Revised route between Rail Station and City Centre due to Friargate development" (I think we could guess that!) It doesn't help people to know where that revised route might take them for getting on or off their particular bus! Oh my

Hi Tony, Wave I will keep my eyes open for any info, as well as conducting full out & about tests from time to time. In spite of the confident manner of the council official on our wireless this morning, the fact maybe more of an uncertainty, as changes may well be made as work proceeds. It is a pity that more attention could not be given to the eyesore buildings around the Foleshill Rd, where the derelict Courtaulds building has lain empty for over a decade.

My other half picked up an interesting little book called "Daimler buses in Camera" 1974 for £1 at the G Scale model railway exhibition at Stafford yesterday. A little section on Coventry Buses including these in Broadgate in 1969. I must have got off the 16 or 16a here many times to go shopping or stayed on to go to The Burnt post stop to visit my grandparents in Wainbody Avenue.

Great pictures Annewiggy-thanks! I used to catch the 16, as well, from Keresley End. Am I right in thinking that they used to come down Bishop Street and past the old Fire Station, before the ring road was built? Are the shops in the picture in Broadgate? I remember them stopping outside the front of Owens during one period. Wave

I used to get on by the bottom of Lydgate Hill. They were so regular that even if you saw one zooming passed on the Radford Road you knew another one would be along in 10 minutes. Yes, I think they went along the old Radford Road, down Bishop Street , Hales Street and then up Trinity Street. I think we used to catch it outside Owen Owens. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

It's the temporary shops on the east side of Broadgate. The buses are heading in the opposite direction to the ones which stopped outside Owen's.

Just a reminder that the 'Coventry On The Buses' event takes place on Sunday at Millennium Place outside the Transport Museum, 10am to 4pm. It is exactly 100 years since the first Corporation bus service started in the city. There will be a display of buses old and new, free rides re-creating former bus routes throughout the day, including a mothers day special. Various stalls will have something for the children (young and old), including many model displays. The Lord Mayor will be attending plus special guests. This is a free event. Don't forget clocks go forward tonight!

We are going to take the kids to this, they always enjoy the museum and will love a bus ride. Stephen Lewis is apparently not going to be there now due to illness. Sad "I hate you Butler!"

It would have great to be able to attend the event, if only we had a bus on a Sunday. No, we don't live in the country side, we live within the city boundary in Lenton's Lane. It goes back to the time of my mother in law who had to walk to Longford to catch transport to get to work!
