Visited Quainton Road today, home of The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre - here is "Coventry No.1" looking very well!

Hi all Wave Whilst it is generally thought that we train-spot people relish our memories of the great steam locomotives, for me & many of us, the architecture & furniture as it is called is also sadly missed. One of our nearest heritage railways is at Cheltenham. My son recorded this pic on bank holiday Monday. I hope that you like. The train disappearing on its way to Cheltenham, where it terminates at the original Cheltenham Racecourse station. Leaving behind a station canopy & signals.

There was also an LMS Coronation Class called City of Coventry which was unfortunately scrapped but its nameplate survives and is on display on the staircase to platforms 2 and 3 at Coventry Station

On 12th Jun 2012 7:07am, Midland Red said: I believe Virgin Train still run one as a Friday evening relief from Euston to Birmingham and Crewe, the set is nicknamed "Pretendolino" Big grin , consisting of a Class 90, Mark 3 coaches and a DVT - it is also a standby and charter set for Virgin Trains Thumbs up
Here is said train about to pass Canley three Fridays ago, when the weather wasn't as quite as grim as the last couple of Fridays!! The contract to haul the Pretendolino stock is now held by Direct Rail Services (DRS), and the designated Class 90 (90034) carries the new DRS corporate branding. The train is the 1903 Euston to New Street. Due to the slower running ability than Pendolinos, the train normally departs Coventry around 2010 for New Street and returns through Coventry for Euston about an hour later.

Thanks for that both, Wave As train-spotters, it was always a golden rule that if a signal box was repainted, then it was due for closure. Sad

Next Saturday, 28th June, 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' will be running NON-STOP from New Street to Euston Passing times are : International 0925 Coventry 0937 Rugby 0948 Unfortunately it returns via Nuneaton and Whitacre Junction. Rugby 1930 Nuneaton 1949 -1952 Whitacre 2011 Coleshill Parkway 2014 - 2017 It is timed for 60mph maximum in both directions. However, it may be slowed slightly as it passes through Coventry but should still be accelerating away nicely, as it is booked to pass through Platform 1 the usual minimum of 3 minutes after the 'dogbox' has arrived from Nuneaton on Platform 2 at 0934. It should be quite something.

Hi all Wave Coventry to Nuneaton This has been a news item for longer than the Eiffel tower, so I will not rush with my camera until I see hard evidence of spades in the ground.

Hi all Wave The coaches made more noise as the loco passed at speed, effortlessly, as you would expect from such a powerful royal lady.
