I can't find a layout on Spon End or Spon Street that matches the picture. Oddities - I've never noticed exterior pipes on inner Coventry yards before or pantiles on roofs. I'm not ruling it out yet but it's a tough one.

New Mystery image to identify from the ever-interesting collection of M.Toms from Nicola Smith. I contacted Nicola about these - M. Toms was a friend of her Father whose job it was to go around and photograph Billboard Hoardings for Ads to generate further Ad interest. That's why there is always one in these images and they are always from unusual (but great!) aspects. They are all late 40s/early 50s. Looks a bit like Earlsdon but I know there well and can't spot yet - clue may be the School sign and Spire...........

I will have a good guess, but not my side of Coventry. It could be Queensland Avenue, with Abercorn Rd off to right and left. The tower would be Hearsall Baptist Church.

Good guess Not Local but I don't think Hearsall Baptist Church has a Spire like that. On the subject I heard that is closing soon so no more Star on the roof at Christmas Sad

My guess is that you're looking east along Bristol Road, Earlsdon. The road that crosses in the foreground is Centaur Road and the school is Hearsall (or as I knew it, Centaur Road). Maybe the spire belongs to St Thomas' ? If I'm right then the school was extended later in place of the houses on the far left of the crossroads.

The school on Centaur Road is showing on BFA images before 1937 Vernon so I don't think its there............

Station Street East in Foleshill (junction of Princess Street) looking East seems to be a good match. You can just make out the two balls above the door of the building in the far right corner in the photo. Is the spire on the site of the Ukrainian church in Stoney Stanton Road?

I think you've got it Peter Double thumbs up Spotting the decorative balls is the key, they're very distinctive. The spire might be the Methodist chapel off Broad Street? Alternatively, did the builders of that cross roads, do any other areas?

Very similar style to some of the houses in Ransom Rd & Cross Rd.

Could the spire have been attached to Paradise school in Station Street? Just the ruins visible now after being gutted by fire.
