So I accompanied 'the boss' into town this morning to give her a guided tour of all the changes. She hadn't been up there since Feb 2020 due to you know what. I filmed a little of it following the journey through the Lower Precinct up to the fountains / water feature in the Upper Precinct. When we left, about 40 minutes later, the Upper Precinct fountains were full of kids playing in them (and a few dogs too!) all having the time of their lives. There were children playing in the water feature at the Bull Yard too so they are proving to be a smash hit Thumbs up

Prof, thanks I did make a rough guess to myself - maybe late 50's but MR has proved me wrong. Thanks MR.

From this morning (24 June 2021). The water rills all have inscriptions - represents the Ribbon Weaving industry. When operational the water will flow down from the fountains at the top towards the jet engine fountain at the bottom. The circular fountains / water feature ( not on in this video ) represent the watchmaking industry. They can be turned off and this area will be used for events with a stage located here. Most of the barriers from Smithford Way and Market Way should be gone by the end of this week. Will take another 3 weeks for snagging and other bits and bobs to be completed. Not sure how long work on the balconies will take - they are being tarted up and lampposts replaced with 1950's style lights I believe. There was a fair amount of rubbish about but I did film this before 7 am and before the streetpride operatives had done their litter picking. All shaping up very nicely and really looking forward to seeing it when it's completed and all the water features are working. Thumbs up

You have done it again Brother J. Thank you. All the greenery, waterways and beautiful words will bring it all to life when completed. Another achievement for Coventry city centre to be proud of. Happy

Thanks the CliffB on here - Naiad has now been relocated! Just not sure quite how safe she is going to be there at night - looks like she's been crudely cabled to the floor but at least she is out in the open again. Nice one, Cliff!

NAIAD IS WELCOMED TO HER NEW HOME ... Pure fluke that I was in the right place at the right time to film this. An honour to meet George Wagstaffe and share my childhood memories of visiting her at Palace Yard with mum. He thinks she'll be wearing an England shirt by the end of the week - top bloke Big grin

Most of the water rills were working today; the ones that weren't were having LED lighting installed. First time I've seen them in action. Thumbs up
