Judging from the way that the child is dressed and the grim look on the passers by faces it looks like early 40's to me.

They were real furs too, Anne, my gran had a fox fur (with the head) always worn on special occasions, so definitely 40's I would agree.

My grandmother always had a fur coat. She had a long brown one, then later a three quarter light one. I don't know what furs they were. When she got older she promised it to mum, my two sisters-in-law and me! When she died none of us wanted it, I didn't know what had happened to it but when my mum died I managed to get hold of her old next door neighbour, a lovely Indian girl who had been very kind to my mum and dad. She said she had my nan's fur coat in the back of her wardrobe, did I want we want it back? We all said no, get rid of it!!

Those two-tone shoes have a ring of the swing-dance era - you can still buy them in the dance shops. So another clue points to the early 1940s?

I may be wrong but I think the bus is a either a rebodied Daimler COA6 or CWA6 - the former were rebodied in 1949 and the latter in 1951, so it's probably the very beginning of the 1950s.

The bus in the background there is one of the five pre-war Daimler COA6's, that were all rebodied by Charles H Roe of Leeds in May 1949 and all withdrawn in July 1958! As is already mentioned here above by Midland Red, some of the Daimler CWA6's were also rebodied and they too were also done by Roe (all 12 of them!) in early 1951, but the Daimler in the Hertford Street view here is definitely one of the pre-war COA6's, as there is a very slight difference between the Roe body fitted on the COA6, compared to that on the later CWA6, but it's only something that a pedantic geek like me would ever really notice!!! Lol Anyway, to cut a long story short, I can tell you all for certain that the Hertford Street view showing the lady with the nice shoes was definitely taken some time between May 1949 and July 1958!!! (but certainly not before, or after, that period!)

A bit more nostalgia for those who remember it like this below. Could it be late 1950s? Forum image

Yes a big improvement (for once!) - The Tarmac is temporary apparently - they wanted it open for the event.

CKV1D #259 Yes, I agree, because the stone faced brick pillar on the left of photo is the one the Queen, as Princess Elizabeth, opened for the start of the Precinct build. It formed the corner of what would become Broadgate House.

Not sure I've seen quite so much traffic going in to Bull Yard before in that period -
