A new high vantage point for Coventry has been created. Extracare have what they call the 'Sky Lounge' on the 9th floor of their recently opened Earlsdon Village. I was there this morning. There are also good views of the railway line and of the pitch at the rugby club. Will try to post more of interest later.

Saw this picture several days before I actually took it. So returned today and made sure I had it captured.

Pixrobin, lovely photo's, keeps me in touch with what's happening today, against what I knew a long time ago. Under that tree in front of the church was a blue police box, I heard many a 'spicy' story from that box, long long time ago.

I was in the church this week. I found out (right or wrong) the first shot fired in Coventry against the king in the civil war was a cannon shot from the church tower as he was riding to try to enter the city through Spon Gate. Is this right or not? This short clip is part of a video I made of one of my walks around Coventry. Where is this clip?

Some on the forum may not have been back to Coventry for a few years or others ride everywhere in a car Smile never going on a bus. Well here is part of my trip to Wyken Croft on the front seat of a double decker bus, just something to look at as we go out of town Blush

We used to use the bus when the kids were younger as they enjoyed sitting up on the top at the front and watching the view. It's definitely an interesting and different view! I particularly love the new streetscape at the bottom of Far Gosford Street. Far better than the open spaces that were there before. Great stuff!

Great video Dougie, still not used to seeing traffic lights at this junction, can I diverge a little, an amusing story, when I was a teenager but probably a nightmare for the owner of the property. This clip reminded me that on my first day going to work, walking to Kenilworth Rd to catch a bus to Warwick, there was a crane at the top of Daventry Rd, outside one of the houses on the far side of the road to the video. On my return from work the house had a graping hole in the roof. The story was that the crane was lifting a swimming pool into the back garden, when lowering it the crane jib hit the roof. The roof was covered in a tarpaulin for some time, no doubt whilst the insurers were sorting out who's paying etc. I just seached on Google maps, none of these houses now have a swimming pool! This would had been September 1972.

The main part of the building will be a steel framework with concrete beams forming the floors. Building the stairs first has a number of advantages: - You have easy access to shutter and pour the concrete. - The workmen can use the stairs to access the rest of the building while it is being built.
This was the view this evening with parts of the steelwork erected.

We did the 'Skyride' today and all four of us (two kids under ten included) cycled twice around the ring road. What a great experience! And a chance to see Coventry from a different view without being stuck in a car. Untitled A tunnel: Untitled (I also write short stories, and many are set in cities with large road systems and gloomy tunnels. It is so much civilised being up above rather than being forced into tunnels. It's the cars that should be hidden, not the people).
