Morning Kaga, The last time I was along that lovely stretch of road into Coventry was on the school bus in - now when was it? Thank you for the photos Pix, always a delight to see, and to think years ago you would be in the darkroom developing those.

Hi all Wave I am looking forward to meeting a forum member today, who I have not seen in ages, who is driving some distance as we shall be meeting for lunch. I will be going on bus, as you would expect, although at this point in time today, my eyesight is quite good. The problem is that I never know how long good visibility will last. I have learnt from hard experience from the past of having to abandon my car, sometimes parked up in dodgy places, or asking for piggy back lifts from friends or family. I rarely drive nowadays without Pam or another driver with me, yet sometimes I can go days without any eyesight issue, only to then be plagued with days on end of real hard issues. One of my scenarios which is so hard to explain, is where I turn my head or eyeballs & the picture that I am seeing follows me around on a delayed reaction. That is no-good for driving. Some days all I see is a chequer board of blank squares, where my only vision is fleeting glimpses. There is no treatment, as it is my optic nerve that was ravaged by a flu virus in 1998. Whilst sounding like poor-old me, please spare a thought for our members who do suffer from disability, those confined to wheelchairs & the like. Please have a good day all, whatever you are up to. Make the most of today, as there are hints of some rain tomorrow afternoon. I will say more about that in our mid-week forecast on our weather bulletins, tomorrow morning. Stay tuned. Cheers

Hi all Wave I have enjoyed such a dream of a day today, meeting up with my forum pal. In fact, my forum friends make up a huge chunk of my social enjoyment these days. I enjoyed forum company last Friday evening also. It is easy to say nice things in print & it is nice to say nice things in print, but it is even nicer when we mean it as I most certainly do. My pal must mean it too, driving the distance that he did. I do value friendship, as without it, there is little else. Wave

Hi all Wave With such a gloomy weather forecast for today, a Sizzler pub breakfast is beckoning my taste-buds just now. Maybe the Wallace or the Brooklands. A funny weekend with so many folks coming home from hols, whilst some just setting off, as I wave bye, bye to one of my neighbours. I love to see our members names popping up on the list of who is on line, so I am delighted to say hello to our friend Gilly from down-under. Hope you ok. The theme of todays weather is "unpredictable", or hit & miss for us here Whatever you are all up to, please enjoy.

I had a buzz round Warwick Uni on my scooter. No old buildings there - earliest is 1965 I think. The great thing is that they had the freedom to include landscaping and trees so the harsh lines of modern architecture are softened. I've put 27 of the snaps on flickr.

Pleased to see the photos of Warwick Uni. 1965 sounds about right. I was involved in the building of the Sports and Computer centres and I think they were around 1970, the first on the circular road at the bottom of the site close to the Sports fields.(Vice chancellor used to say they were the most expensive part of the Uni) The Boiler house was there before us and I think the admin and some of the blocks closer to the Kenilworth road were there. I know they were - many of them were covered in those awful white tiles - many of them scarred where they were falling off. We had the "red brick" universities, I think this lot wanted to differentiate as "the White tile" Universities. Had to go to a conference at the Architects Office in London (York Rosenberg & Mardall) Yes their building was covered in the same white tiles! Some other lovely pictures as well - thank you

My trip out this afternoon was to photograph the boundary between Lord Leigh's Westwood Parish and Coventry prior to 1926. The route I chose was over the footbridge at Canley Halt and couldn't resist showing this picture for our friends in Oz.

Wow, thanks for that Robin, I've not seen that before. It's almost identical to the Sir Henry Parkes School emblem - except the head would have been looking forwards rather than backwards. I wonder why it was presented that way.

With the early autumn sunshine I was off into the city centre on my scooter. Here's confirmation that there are still a show of wild flowers on the cenral reservation of Fletchamstead Highway.

Not in your league Pix, but I was out and about in my daughter's garden, and captured these colours today.
