No return to Brandon for Bees
No great surprise there, then, but some hope for a new stadium |

The Save Coventry Campaign Group would like to invite all supporters and local residents to a meeting on Monday October 9.
This meeting will take place in association with the NSSC at the Brandon Club, starting at 8pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to update everyone on the latest position in the efforts to bring speedway and stock car racing back to Coventry, as we approach one year since Brandon last staged racing.
There have been several developments over recent months, not all of which have been accurately reported, and we will be looking to set the record straight on a number of issues and hopefully give supporters a clearer understanding of the current position.
All speedway and stock car supporters, and local residents concerned by the possibility of housing, are more than welcome to attend.

Brandon Estates Ltd held a public exhibition on 19 October at the Brandon Hall Hotel to show their plans for housing development on the stadium site
Residents, fans and the press, including television, were in attendance
The "Save Coventry Speedway & Stox" campaign group have now published their reaction to the exhibition, and this can be read on their website here
Perhaps those forum members with an interest in or who support the return of Coventry Stadium as a motor sports venue will back the campaign - please refer to the last three paragraphs in the campaign group's reaction on how to express such support |

Meanwhile, gypsies again arrived on site a few days ago - and in the early hours of yesterday morning a local resident called the fire brigade to a blaze in one of the turnstile blocks
About ten caravans were in the car park, but with the help of Councillor Stokes, these have been moved on - and, hopefully, the site has been made (more) secure
One wonders what might have occurred had the blaze not been spotted when it was - and whether there was a sinister reason behind the outbreak

Listening to an interview on the Phil Upton show on BBC-CW radio this evening just before 5:00pm, a witness stated that although the owners said they had totally complied with the local Councils requirements for site security - in fact this person found one of the gated vehicle entrances secured with a small padlock..... fixed to an unsecured gatepost that appeared to be standing on top of a brick - thereby allowing the gate to be simply swung open!!
Maybe someone from the Council should go take a look? |
