The gas tank framework is in the background so my guess is Barker Butts Lane near where Lloyds Bank is now. Norman Just old and knackered

Yes but your answer was more precise. I only recognised the building in the middle and knew the gas holder was roughly in that direction.
The left most pin on this page from Britain From Above is where the camera was looking. |

Thank you to everyone. A photo was taken of the runners in the Rising Sun back garden before the race started so I knew it must be fairly close to the pub as the runners are still quite close. What is the building in the centre, please Helen, you didn't say. Is the one just behind, the same building or a separate but connected building? |

I don't know much about it other than it was quite prominent and on an older site. It is called Holyhead House on the map and is a series of Georgian looking buildings on a large plot between the corner of Holyhead Road and the city wall. A chunk of land taken out of the plot on the corner nearest the old gate held the buildings you can still see today next to the church. It's entirely possible the Georgian fa |

Thanks for the extra information Helen. I will chase this up. I still cannot understand why the runners are heading in this direction, it would make more sense for them to run the other way which is what they traditionally did! I am obviously missing something! |

A bit of a poser this one. In the guest book, Ann from New Zealand, has asked a question. In 1949 they lived on a caravan site in Cov called "Canada Place". That is the extent of the information I know, who needs anymore?
I know the 403 Canadian squadron were based at Baginton Airport for a short while but was there any other Canadian camp bases in Cov which might give rise to the name "Canada Place". Also the U.S had a camp at Stoneleigh??

The Canada camp that I knew was where Eaves Green caravan park is now at Meriden. Follow Showell Lane round towards Lodge Green Lane it is on your right. I used to know people who lived there. Derek |

Hi Everyone! Where is this in Coventry? Either someone will know and get it straight away or I might have to give another clue
Clue: It's a building for individuals who refuse to conform

Yeah it is, good detective work Bohica , the marks on the wall are quite distinctive - apparently the designer told the masons to 'break up' the dull, boring flat surface; so they covered each stone with chisel marks. Luke.
