Back in the 1990's my father took photographs (slides 200+ I haven't counted) of the railways around Coventry. The slides go from Kenilworth to Nuneaton, Nuneaton to Rugby, Rugby to Berkswell and finally Berkswell to Kenilworth (disused section). He called this the Coventry Butterfly, I think he made that term up as I've never heard of it before. He also took pictures of the Coventry Loop trackbed/bridges etc., just as work was starting on turning it into a road. My father passed in 2019 and I now have all those slides, I haven't had time to do anything with them, I've no idea of the quality & they are in a mess and would need many hours sorting them. Any suggestions as to what I should do with them, other than throw them in the bin? Mods note: Discussion on old photographs, transparencies, etc in general has been moved to a separate thread here

rob58uk - I'm sure the brilliant Warwickshire Railways website would love them. They have a Facebook page you can contact them on if you are on FB. If not let me know and I will send them a message.

Thanks to Gray Forster on the 'Coventry We Used to Know' Facebook page - here's that incline machine 'gateway' exit on to Warwick Road again. This time, Queen Mary and the Princess Royal arriving at Coventry Station, in September 1917.

Great idea, I've just dropped them an email, do you have a connection with them? I've also put a more comprehensive reply about them on other topic. Thank you

Hi all, I do know the site founder very well, he has family connections with our chapel in Durbar Ave. It's a fabulous site for local rail enthusiasts, in fact, I don't believe that there is anything to match it anywhere in our country for a regional historic railway website. It's nearly as good as our forum!!!

The mother(?) carrying the case of the army cadet going back on the train to camp and the officer striding behind, presumably catching same train.

Hi all, In other news today, Foleshill moves a further step forward to having a railway station. Possibly the south side of Lockhurst Lane bridge, not the site of the station that was closed in the sixties.
