I went to All Saints 1949-55. I was on Northfield Road. Both Rayner and Wingate were in my class at King Henry VIII.

I played in the choristers league for St Marks and St Barnabas in the early to mid 60s. As others have noted cricket scores often happened. Our worst defeat was 35-0 and sadly I kept goal for the first half. My replacement in the second half fared little better. The remarkable thing was that our opponents from Nuneaton had half their team arrive late and they only had 5 players in the first half though we rarely had a full eleven in the team. My first ever game was at Gosford Green - the changing room at the bowling greens opposite still had gas lighting! We only lost that one 28-0 against All Saints I believe. Some of the pitches at The Memorial Park had a severe slope and were known as Heartbreak Hill. The leather balls got heavy in the wet and heading one was not at all pleasant. Some games were surprisingly far away. I remember games at Long Itchington (known as Short Scratchington of course), Stockton, Leamington, Chilvers Coton (Nuneaton) and St Nicholas Kenilworth when one usually had to shoo the cows off the 'pitch' - and you can guess what the cows left on the pitch. Such long distance away games usually involved the hire of a mini bus. The results were always phoned through to the Telegraph by the indefatigable Mr Gee, our organiser, to appear in 'The Pink', and it was a thrill to see them listed even though most games were a resounding loss. We switched to playing cricket in the summer with most games being at the Memorial Park. I assume that the league is now long gone!

Their mum used to teach part-time at Allesley Hall Primary. They later moved to Atherstone and then (I think) back to the Reverend Mac's homeland of Scotland.
I think the Reverend passed away and Jean (Mrs Mac) moved to Atherstone - she was from Leeds

The vicar, Rev MacPherson, was a Southampton supporter so their shirts had red and white vertical stripes. They were looking for a team nickname and I came up with 'The Signals' as they matched a well-known striped toothpaste at the time. I think that the team was managed by Nigel Clift for a while.
I was very much part of the church youth club at St Christopher's whilst the MacPhersons were there As I recall it was a Youth Club lead that the football team was associated with but that may have changed over time as I was a bit younger than Angus but good friends with Andrew tho he was slightly younger than me. At that time the team was coached by Bob Townsend

St Christopher School - I did a Y.O.P. Course at St Christopher School first in the kitchens on placement from Tile Hill Collage, I'd just left school and was 16 years old - I have a lovely placement there, all the women in the kitchen were so nice. Particularly the head cook 'Winnie' and the kitchen manager but unfortunately I can not remember her name. It was the autumn of 1978. I then later returned in 1979/80 to do another work opportunity programme working in St Christopher infant school. The head teacher was Mrs Cooper, she retired at the end of the school year in 1980. She had been the head teacher there from when the school opened. (Such a very nice person). After that the schools headship became one with the head of the junior school. Mrs Cooper was also married to Mr Cooper who had been a househead at Caludon Castle School, he had also retired in 1979. I lived in Brookside Ave but went to secondary school at Caludon Castle School.

St Christopher's primary school (or more locally in my day known as St Sid's) not to be confused with St Christopher's church whose school is St John's CofE Academy.
