MR, who's the guy on the back row 3rd from the end on the R/H side of the photo? Looks like you know who!

Next to Miss Robson (i.e 5th from left on front row) is, I think, J.B Young Evans. The headmaster, on Mr Shore's left is AAC Burton. 4th from right on front row is Max Gordon. 6th from left on back row is "pop" Cork, 6th from left on middle row is, I think, Crocker and again I'm not sure but top row farthest on right is Parnaby. I think the four ladies on the front row left were all in the Junior school including primary and the three ladies on the right were the school secretaries.

Thanks, Thomas Thumbs up I can see that it's JBY-E (but he looks taller!) - I recognised the face of the one you think is Parnaby, and as he was there when I was, I guess it probably is. I wondered if that was Maxie Gordon on the front row, but wasn't sure

Hey Midland Red, did you all go to that tuppeny-hapenny mamby-pamby school? Me and old man Steptoe could have given you a run for your money Big grin but all those worries about school dinners must have been terribly hard, while we men of the real world only had to worry about the Koreans, and the AK47, the atom bomb, germ warfare, and dodging the mud in the Precinct. Just thought I'd mention a few things about the real fifties. Cheers

The gentleman on AAC Burton's left was Mr Gaines, the headmaster of the Junior School. 5th from the left on the top row is "Joe Soap" Stevenson, the other Art Master (Shore also taught art). I think the third lady in from the right on the front row was the formidable Mrs Gardiner. On Liddiard's left was ?Bullock?? the p/e master and on his right is ??"beebop" Barnes (music) ?? I'm sure someone must recognise a few others. PS As far as JBY-E goes are his feet actually touching the ground !!

I can see Joe Soap now, but I'd likely have mistaken him for Pope Harris

Hi all Wave I certainly enjoyed the school dinners. They were prepared & cooked on site & by people that cared. Pupils at many of Coventry schools could only have ever dreamt of that. If they were so poor, how come so many staff enjoyed or "endured" them? The dinner staff had to observe strict rules about food menus, quality & content. Even with that, they resourced from local suppliers, including a greengrocer whose son was a chum of mine at the school. It was my favourite subject, I never received a detention for being late & I never left anything other than an empty plate.

Tom, that doesn't look like Alf Crocker to me - our first year form master. The only one I recognise is your dad!

Further to my post 1467, I can report that Neil Porter and Mick Tyler have been traced, both alive and well.
