Norman Conquest, Yes eventually I did, but it was banned in England and hard to obtain, but he wrote so much more. He was from the Midlands, his father a miner, and only a few years before my time, and his descriptive of the countryside and peoples emotions were the best to me.
A few years later, someone asked for my help, in an emotion turmoil, he needed to get away for awhile, we left Coventry Station next morning at 8am. I could do that. We became very good friends, and he came with me to Cannes many times.Long story. |

Hi Derrick Arthur
Windmill Road School 1955/6
The little girl on the back row, sixth from the left, is my auntie Pauline Marshall.
We also have a photo of my mother at Windmill Road School somewhere, Patricia Marshall, now Dimbleby. I shall have to dig it out. I think my mum attended in 1950.

I have been showing the photos to my aunties and uncle and they remember some of the names. Their name is Anderson and they lived on Pearson Avenue. There were nine of them, so I'm sure people remember them and they all went to Windmill Road School.

Hi Samoc,
I attended Windmill Road/Longford Park school from about 1949/50 to 1959/60, were any of your aunts or uncles at this school during those years? |

Hi Johnwright
Yes they did. Carol Anderson would have started there in 1949/50, then Pearl Anderson in 51/52, Eunice in 1954, and Laurence in 1955. Christine was also there but would have started in 1947/48.
I showed Carol the photos from this site today and she recognised herself and could name several others.

Hi Samoc again,
It seems that your Carol Anderson started at Windmill Road school at the same time as me, so our paths must have crossed at sometime or other. Can she remember any of her classmates ? My own memory is fading with age, but I will mention some of the kids that I knew in my class. John Oakley, Melvyn Cooper, Gilbert Dobbs, Les Poole, Anne Drower, Jill Arkinstall, Enid and Joan Price. There are, of course many more, perhaps Carol could name some. I am in contact with some of our old schoolmates, many not in Coventry or England now. |

Hi John
She does remember some of the people. I will get her to write them down and I will post them on here. She is on the photo you posted, on the front row, fourth from the right.

Hi Derrick.
John Oakley did not have a sister, he had an elder brother Bill. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of either John or Bill, I would love to hear from them. I do not know if the others you mention have brothers or sisters but obviously it is possible. I am in touch with some of our old schoolmates, and it's always nice to know of more. Many thanks Derrick for your response. |
