It's a Square World was before my time but I may have seen repeats. I do remember the square landscapes. |

I'm currently recording "Round the Horne" from Radio4Extra on the tv.
I'm quite enjoying it, but I think I'd be a tad embarrassed if there was someone with me who'd not heard it before |

Educating Archie was definitely before my time. I was the very tail end of Listen With Mother, the Wooden Tops, The Flower Pot Men and Andy Pandy but was more Tales of the River Bank, The Herbs, Play School, Pogles Wood, Noggin the Nog, Fingermouse, The Clangers, Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine. Saturdays were Heidi, (race? flee?) to La Rochelle, Champion the Wonder Horse, Belle and Sebastian, White Horses and Why Don't You? |

I much prefer Round the Horne to Beyond Our Ken. I don't like the Seamus Android sketches but then I didn't like Eamonn Andrews either. |

I find Spotify quite a good resource for some older recordings. Some "Round the Horne", "Navy Lark", "Goons" etc., but unless you pay all the adverts intrude. It's possible to record using "Audacity", and then you can cut the adverts and then save as a wav-file for CD's or mp3 to store on hdd etc. Don't forget to turn off the email and system alerts otherwise these all get recorded as well, which somewhat destroys the vintage feel of the programme. Of course you could just create a play list on Spotify! |

I understand "old cassette tapes" - Spotify, Audacity, mp3... no idea
Much easier to record off the tv |

The Billy Cotton Band Show on Sunday afternoons - I enjoyed it even though there must have been around sixty years difference between my age and theirs! I suspect that's where my love of 20s, 30s and 40s music came from. True Blue Coventry Kid

Friends, you should try RadioEchoes, there's every episode of more shows than you could shake a stick at, free without adverts to download or just listen to. Search by genre, Comedy, to find most of the above mentioned. |
