Mrs W and myself were in Coventry today and popped into the Devonshire Arms to waste a bit of time while we waited for our son who had an appointment at Walsgrave hospital and to my astonishment I met a fellow forum member it was Philip doing a bit of research for breakfast meet-ups (well that's what he told me) at last I've met a fellow member and I must say what a pleasure it was to meet such an amiable approachable person keep up the good work Philip. Cheers Cheers Cheers Cheers

Hi all & thank you for the comments. Wave Oh, yes, this breakfast test commission is very demanding, all of these sausage thingies. Honestly, I have yet to have a poor breaky at any of the sizzlers. The Devon was very good, with the toast & butter coming first, rather than mounted on the main breakfast plate. Coffee was excellent as we have come to expect at all of the sizzlers. It was fab meeting our member & his wife at the Devon. We wish their family well with regards the hospital business. PS The 360 circle bus that stops outside the Devon goes direct to the hospital, but for my friend John & I, the No 10 took us into the city centre. You see how convenient this bus thingy is! Cheers

This morning was so beautiful that I had a nip round on my scooter to take a few pictures. This is looking into Ivy Farm Lane viewed from corner of Cannon Hill Road and this is the upper part of Shultern Lane, now closed to motor vehicles.

I wouldn't normally include family snaps on here but I think the background will be of interest to those on distant shores. Notice the 'Closing Down Sale' on the Co-op Drapery Store. The upper level of the Lower Precinct now gets more footfall because it is a route to the roof-top parking over the market. Incidentally, the two young ladies are my granddaughter and great-granddaughter who were down from Lancashire for a couple of days.

To Coventry with love I send to you Allesley, a quaint village that I once knew Bablake, a district where people do learn Bell Green, I yearn to return Binley, speedway I tried, young pride Cheylesmore, I've seen places Earlsdon, remember dearly a few faces Foleshill and Longford, oh you haunted me so Radford and Stoke, much wiser since my goodbye to you Whoberley, Woodlands, Willenhall, I barely knew Coventry, I still remember you.

While out and about this morning I poked the camera lens through the gates to get this shot of the new Forrest Medical Centre in Canley.

Hi all Wave I posted something of my recent evening trip to Walsgrave Hospital, or strictly described as UHCW, on the Coventry Transport topic, demonstrating how convenient it was for me. Today has been another delightful public transport day which I shall describe. 9.30am. Bus from Hen Lane to the Ricoh. Coffee with the shopping folk in M&S 10.28am. Train from Ricoh to Coventry station. 10.40am. Bus into Hertford St, with short walk to Argos, to collect a parcel off eBay. Bumped into friends where I enjoyed coffee with them inside the Methodist central hall. Gosh, they wanted blood not money, as the transfusion service was there. Then a delightful walk back to the station. 11.42am. Train to the Ricoh. 12 noon. Bus back to Hen Lane. That was not the finish, as Pam decided that we should have a bite of lunch out, so she & her sis' travelled by car to the Wallace. As chance would have it, I reached my local bus stop just in time to board the very next 360a, so was able to reach the Wallace before they did (they did have a detour to attend to) After a very nice lunch, back home on the 360c. The point of all of this dribble is simply, to demonstrate just how good our local public transport is if we know how to use it. It isn't rocket science, neither is it an exact science. It's fluid & as long as we are fluid along with it, it is simply amazing. Big grin I used five buses & two trains, which cost me nothing but a bit of time. Next Friday morning, weather permitting, I hope to travel by train, all the way to Wales from the Ricoh, on a normal scheduled train. Work that out if you can, please. Oh my Big grin If you cannot work it out, here is a clue Do have a lovely weekend all. Cheers Big grin Thumbs up
