Triumph Motorcycles

I know nothing about motorcycles, but all of these were seen yesterday at "The Bloxham Rally" bearing the name "Triumph"

First one is a single cylinder Trophy 250cc, second one is a 350 twin model 21, third is a Daytona 500cc twin, finally 150cc model terrier.

The one with the Blue and White petrol tank is yes a 500cc Triumph Daytona. But it's one of the last 500's made and a 1974 model that was never sold to the public, it has a disc brake which the 500's never had on the unit construction motor from 1957, so it was called the T100D series 2, the 'D' meaning disc. The series one model were held in due to the shut in and had a twin leading shoe front brake, there was only a handful of the T100D's made. If it is a genuine one the first two engine number letters should start with JJ.

Hello all, I believe the top photo is a 1955 Triumph Tiger 110 (T110) - a 650cc twin cylinder claimed to be able to reach 110 mph, hence the title. I doubt that many would achieve the 110 mph but I bet every owner of one claimed that they did! I owned several of these machines in the 60's having bought them for £25 in quite a number of boxes of bits. I rebuilt one of them and went to the Isle of Man TT in 1967 on it with a mate. I sold it shortly afterwards a to buy a car The started to build a trials outfit with the other one but never got around to completing it so sold it in pieces. The bike to the left of the bottom photo is a Triumph Bonneville scrambler. It appears to be one of the earlier models - around 2005/2008. The other bike is the standard Triumph Bonneville - T100 I think. Again, I believe it to be an earlier model. While on the subject of Triumph motorcycles does anyone have any information on the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club that used to meet in the pub at the top of London Road/Gulson Road - the Saracens Head I think it was called. I understand that the nearest TOMCC branch now is at Meriden. I was a member of the Coventry branch of the TOMCC and a group of us attended the first Dragon Rally in Wales in 1962. I remember that the sidecar racer Chris Vincent started off with us but we didn't see him again until we got there. If anyone has any memories of the branch, or better still, some photos, I would love to see them. As a by-the-way, I still ride motorcycles and am still faithful to Triumph owning a 2012 Triumph Street Triple and a 1962 Tiger 100SS. Best wishes Neil

Hello all, Does anyone remember the Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club? I was a member for a short while in the early 60's and we used to meet at the pub just inside London Road from Gulson Road, the Saracens Head or Arms I think. This branch of the TOMCC is no longer in existence as far as I can make out. There is a TOMCC branch at Meriden which may have replaced the original Coventry one. I was riding a 1939 Tiger 100 at this time and remember attending the first Dragon Rally near Snowdon in Wales (1962) with members of the club. It was held in January and was freezing cold throughout the weekend. Chris Vincent, the sidecar racer started off with us on a new BSA A65L but we didn't see him again until we got there! Does anyone have any memories of this? Or better still some photos.

Hello Neil. Yes, the Meriden section of the Triumph owners club still meets at the working mens club which is adjacent to the village pond. How long it has been there I couldn't say. I did 2 dragon rallies, 2009 on Anglesey and 2011 in Snowdonia, both experiences not to be missed. The 2009 one was noted for its sub zero temperatures, I slept with all my biking gear on Happy days.

Does anyone know if the personnel records survived, and if so, where they might be located?

Bohica, try the Herbert, for Triumph personnel records. I feel sure they may be there or they would know if, for instance, they were at Warwick University or County Records Office.

The picture of the motorcycle on top of the globe seems to be the start of a new logo. Production of Triumph cars started in 1928, in 1932 a new logo with the words "Triumph all over the World" on it. The shape of the logo was oval with the globe placed in the middle of it and the name of the company above. Triumph Motorcycle Logo History

Good point scrutiny - I had not thought of that. I knew the car logo featured a globe.

Second thought, maybe the pic is for a Triumph carnival float?
