Hello Philip, Memorable times for you then, you must have been a brave little boy, with mixed emotions for one so young. Lovely photos. Was that the car you mentioned previously? Happy

Hi Dreamtime, Wave Yes, she bought it from the Parkside Garage in Coventry 1958. The manager was a Mr. Davies. It was wheels within wheels, as mum supplied the uniforms and shoes to the staff there. Wave PS. I am off on a venture today with one of our members. On bus, as you would expect. I am as excited now as I was in that picture post 57. Happy Thumbs up

Hi all Wave I feel very honoured that someone should have opened a thread with my name as the title. I can also state that our forum site has become a very dominant feature of my everyday life. I know that I can chatter, and doesn't everyone know it, but I do try to share what I find as a help to me. We don't all drink or eat the same, as we are so different in so many areas of our lives. That for me is the best bit. I have learnt more about IT in the last couple of years than I did in the previous ten. I have learnt more about some subjects, that I thought that I was well up on, because of members' posts putting me right. Best of all, though, is the kinship that has come along with it. You are as close as being in our lounge now, no matter that some are thousands of miles away, or in Bedworth, Green Lane, Rugby or wherever. Having a planned day out with a member on Friday, then bumping into another on Saturday just added cream to the ice cream. Sundays used to be a good economical day to go out for a Sunday lunch a couple of decades ago, but nowadays at a premium cost. Pam and I might venture out later for a McDonalds. At least we know the prices and what we are going to get, and often, late Sunday afternoons or early evenings, it can be very relaxing without any long queues. Best wishes to you all. Wave

Talking of grub, Philip, can I recommend The Corner House. The menu is excellent, and the best bit, it's 2 for one, order 2 meals and only pay for one. I was there yesterday and had the Hawaiian Gammon, and it was scrummy. We go there quite a bit as it's just up the road Thumbs up

I agree Norm. Wave I look forward to my car service day (I do honest) and whilst it is being serviced, I often walk up from the main dealer. Also, the no.56, which goes past the end of my road here, also stops outside. Further on in to Nuneaton on the 56, we have the choice of the Rugger Tavern and The Attleborough Arms. Not been there for a while. Wave

Thank you all so much, Wave The banquet was lunch at the Bull in Meriden. Brill as always. Not wanting to break the habit of a lifetime, whilst Pam and her sister returned home, I ventured further afield. Wave This is at Birmingham International.

Hi Midland Red, Wave A bottle of South African red wine, fish (haddock) & chips, Gaelic coffee. Actually, I did not over-eat yesterday. The outstanding food quality at the Bull makes up for bulk. I bet that I walked five miles too. Whilst Pam and her sister travelled by car, I arrived and departed by bus. Regards our wedding day, September 7th 1968 was a summer sunshine day as was the Sunday. Pam and I only had the one night away, where we stayed at The Arden Hotel in Stratford. The following day, Sunday, I was accompanying (organ) a church choir who were presenting a sacred cantata, "Garnered Grain", in the evening. Many of our wedding guests came to the evening presentation which went really well. The church was packed! Pam was in the choir and made a lovely contribution, which included a duet from the cantata "Consider the Lilies". That has always been in my mind from that day. It is a quote from Scripture. Wave
