Thanks for showing us the photos Morgana. I think most of us only remember the lovely burnt out shell as we see it today. Note I say 'lovely' because to me it is still lovely as it stands and over the years just as many people will enter as if it was still whole don't you think?

You're welcome Dreamtime Smile yes I fully agree with just shows someone had style back then for the remains to still look so wonderful. Smile

I and my better half have some quite large b&w photographs that include various views of the cathedral and around the city. There are some from inside 1920s or 30s factories; also one of Willsons shop (corner of Smithford St and Broadgate?) Top shops, etc. When I have a bit of spare time, I'll scan and post them. I discovered that I have rather more 60s colour slides of the city, too. Just have to find and photograph them in the slide copier. Time permitting, again.

Thank you for sharing your photos morgana. I've only ever stood in the ruins but looking at the second picture, I can imagine standing there, almost smelling the atmosphere and hearing the echoing sounds. I grew up attending St Mark's Church by the Swanswell. It wasn't bombed, but it might as well have been!
If all else fails, read the instructions!

Wave You're welcome 19FoleshillRd, speaking about St Mark's I'm sure that's where I had my physio for my finger when I cut through my tendon in my hand such a shame they let things go to ruin isn't it, you would think being part of the history of the town which attracts tourists you'd think they would look after their buildings they will always say like the one in Bishop Street, no money but can find money to build eyesores. Sad I see MidlandRed has put some photos of St Mark's up for you lovely shots too. Smile

What a super set of photos Norm! Just a thought actually.... would you like to have a go at creating a gallery and adding those to it for future members to easily browse through? I'm off here now for tonight, but me or many other members will be able to help if you get stuck. All the best, Rob

I was in Cov the other day, & took this shot near the base of the cathedral tower. Does anybody know the subject? Thanks. Thumbs up

I can't be certain about this, but as it has a feminine look about it then I'll hazard a possible guess at Queen Margaret of Anjou - Henry VI's missus! That royal pair had a close association with Coventry around the 1450s. Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine is another long shot. Anyone any more educated ideas anyone?

Hi & thank you for that reply, Rob. Wave They might not be such long shots, or if they are, they may be on target. I will have a poke around next week. Cheers
