Very many thanks for the replies you three. My wife is a Coventry lass but I didn't arrive here until '67. I still thought I was on pretty safe ground. I am not saying she is going to be smug, but she is going to be smug!!!!

Wonderful film Morgana, can't believe they could make such clear films over 100 years ago. Tony, according to the report in the newspaper, the procession started from Barrack Square by Bull Yard and then Warwick Road, Stoneleigh Terrace, Queens Road, Butts, Spon Street, Fleet Street, Smithford Street, High Street, Earl Street, Jordan Well, Gosford Street, King William Street, Victoria Street, Primrose Hill Street, White Street, Hales Street, Burges, Cross Cheaping, Broadgate, Hertford Street, Bull Yard and back to Barracks Square. It looks like railway arches so perhaps the ones at Spon End ? On the same site there is a film of 100's of children marching after the Godiva Parade. On both films there is a church like building in the same corner with 2 domed shaped towers, what is this building ? The railings look like Greyfriars Green.

Thank you Anne! Thumbs up You couldn't be a bit more precise on the route of the march could you? (only joking!! Big grin ) Gosh, I didn't expect that level of detail, thanks again. The arches look a little too narrow to be Spon End, do you not think they could be "windows" somewhere? I'll go back and look at the other videos shortly. Cheers

I could give you a full description of all the entrants Tony but it would take all night to type it in Smile . (The British Newspaper Archive Site is a wonderful fascinating site). The writer must have had a sense of humour. I like his comment on the display of St George. He says that by an oversight the organisers had omitted to provide an accompanying dragon. This was unfortunate, a pantomime elephant would have been better than nothing, or a pig with a few pieces of ancient armour. Lol And they spent £10 on the bronze medals and badges

Tony, this medal is illustrated with the article about the procession. This is the one given to the children so it could be what the boys brigade are wearing.
