There is also this article relating to the recent Higgs Charity v SISU High Court hearing. This also is very interesting. How SISU can hope to win their case remains to be seen - maybe they are privy to something that we are not, but on the information available I don't see how they can.

It seems the only winners in this matter are going to be the lawyers. I dread to think how much the legal fees are going to be Sad Sad

You're quite right Mick, it doesn't bear thinking. Lets just hope SISU don't get awarded costs after the case is heard in June! Oh my

There is a really interesting and informative article here in the Telegraph of an interview with Marilyn Knatchbull-Hugessen JP, Chair of The Higgs Charity - following their recent court case with SISU. Some of it (if not all of it) beggars belief! Angry

In the Weblinks section of this site, there is a new entry in the Sports category called "Birth of The Sky Blues". On my web page is an account of the first two years of Coventry City F.C. after they adopted their Sky Blues nickname. In addition to telling the story of those two footballing years, it also includes memories of Coventry life as a teenager in the era of The Beatles and a few musings on relevant matters, both sporting and social. The story is aimed at anyone who witnessed those years as a Sky Blues fan, but I hope that other, younger, City fans will also find it a worthwhile read.

Great read, Ron Thumbs up share so many, many of those memories of City and city Big grin You mention the sky blue colours - I believe that JH decided on that colour as he realised that, at the time, a large proportion of the population were wearing it, in the form of denim! Also, he was instrumental in introducing matchday Radio Sky Blue, which played records(!) from the charts following his regular visits to Wimbledon Speedway, where they played the discs of the day, which was not commonplace at football grounds, and certainly not at Highfield Road, at the time

Brilliant post, brilliant read. I would say though that watching Cov from 1955 until 1960 when I joined the RN, consequently visits became less frequent, my days at Highfield Road were very happy ones. We are about the same age, I was 11 in 1955, when myself and my friend, a 10 year old went to our first game. We always went as early as we could being on Spion Kop between 1.00 and 1.30. We loved it, we had players from Cov, we had lots of players that lived around where we did. Roy Kirk lived on the corner of Clovelly Road, where later George Curtis lived with his wife Inga Benton, for many years. As a youngster, seeing these people, our heroes in their front gardens, was an unbelievable experience. We had good crowds in those days, often between 16000 and 20000, some clubs today would bite your hand off for gates like that. We were in Divivsion 3 South and the Fourth Division, we even had 1 season in Division 3 North, not sure when that was though. Lots of players lived along Dartmouth Avenue, Lol Harvey, Frank Austin, Charlie Timmins, as well as others. Later on some players lived down Sewall Highway, close to where the new pub was built. We lived in Sewall Highway near the Devon. Ray Straw and Paddy Ryan lived there. We stood with the fans of the other teams. We debated and discussed, never falling out. Reg Matthews lived in Wyken Avenue, so we passed his house on the way to school (Caludon). We saw Arthur Lightening with his whizzy car, probably a Zephyr or Zodiac, at the Devon. He was a regular visitor. We even played football with Bobby Gould and his pals over the fields behind Sewall Highway. By golly there were some tackles happening in those days. Happy days, presumably mostly a happy football club. Clearly now almost 60 years ago, remember much of it as if it was yesterday.

Sad to read of the passing of Don Bennett, who I remember as a cultured fullback for the Bantams BBC report

If SISU don't drop the JR appeal CCC/ACL will not negotiate with them on a return to the Ricoh. In my opinion SISU would be the last people I would want to deal with if they had put me through the trauma that CCC/ACL have been through.
