We lived close to 'The Open Arms' when it was built. There was a lot of local opposition to it and the naming of it was probably tongue in cheek.

Me and the future Mrs PP had a small engagement party in the area at the bottom of the lounge in January 2015. Can't remember the names of the very pleasant Manageress and her daughter that worked there at the time, I believe they took over the tenancy at The Holyhead after leaving The Open Arms.

I can't imagine why people would object to the name The Open Arms. I think it's a particularly apt name for a pub, there are far more unpleasant ones, like The Slug and Lettuce for example.

I believe The Slug and Lettuce serves food. Would not even think of eating there. Aren't there several branches of this place?

Hello, I'm inside the refurbished Walsgrave. Carvery. It's beautiful. It's a community. The food top quality as always. Onions included in the veg. They will cure all Coventry colds. I wish that they did B&B. Absolutely top class.

Hello. I was sat in the bar-lounge. The restaurant area all newly fitted out & more room. A lot of careful thought has gone into this refurbishment. It is certainly my wish that the team will be rewarded with good patronage, in-keeping with the delightful comfortable & relaxing public house. Carry on team.

It all looks good Philip, nice upgrade and the meal looks lovely. Doesn't look like the place we used to go and see "Jigsaw" in the 1960's ! Lol

A couple of images have turned up of The Moira Arms in Drapers Fields. Rob we haven't got a piccy yet of it on the Pubs section. Not sure of their origin - they appear to have been shared generally on FB . The same spot today is called Brindley Paddocks.

Super photos, Neil, it would be great to be able to use at least one of them on the pub site. If only those who copied these things onto Facebook would acknowledge the source - it would make our lives a lot easier, and basically it's just good manners to give credit where it's due. It really annoys me how scruples have taken a nose-dive nowadays. I wonder if it's worth asking whoever posted them where they were found?

The Town Wall Tavern has now reopened and looks great! I think it's our forum bound duty to give it a road test Rob! Cheers

Hello, I may try a Sunday lunch there, but I always need to be back in Foleshill before 3.30pm as duty calls.

Hello Neil, The Town Crier. --------------------------- I will load pictures from home, but as always asking permission. Absolutely fabulous pub dinner & pudding for less than half the price of Bistro. Also a nice feeling of being in community pub. I won't need a task duty to come & enjoy the food & drink anytime. I was there at the start of lunch time. By the time I was leaving, they were running out of roast beef. It was well notched up. It's what I refer to as pub-grub. The major refit was back in 2018, but a tidy up of carpet & chairs is more recent. I enjoyed an English, beef curry followed by by an ice cream Sundae, even though it is Monday today.
