New to this thread. Little known that Sir Harry Ricardo developed an engine for Triumph in 1921. "The Triumph Ricardo was a British single-cylinder motorcycle manufactured by the Triumph Engineering Co Ltd between 1921 and 1928. Named after engine designer Sir Harry Ricardo it featured an innovative four valve head design and was capable of over 70 mph, set three world speed records and won a gold medal in the 1923 International Six Day Trial." Manufacturer - Triumph Engineering Co Ltd Also called The 'Riccy' Production - 1921-1928 Engine - 499cc single-cylinder four-valve ohv four-stroke Power - 20 bhp @ 4600 rpm Transmission - Triumph three-speed gearbox

As my post at the start of this thread seems to have lost the image I'll add this one again - I was doing some more digging and apparently this was collecting a couple of bikes direct from Meriden for some upcoming trails meetings. BTW Bud Edkins was his stuntman mate and doubled for Steve in The Great Escape (yes he did the jump!) Also another taken at Meriden on the same day - Thelma was a factory telephonist (full story here) Thumbs up

There are a few threads mentioning this but Siegfried Bettmann's former home Elm Bank has now been renovated and turned into apartments. Amazed they squeezed 14 flats out of it but that's developers for you. As least it's been saved. It's a nicely hidden away inner city spot in that area. Estate Agents Brochure

Elm Bank was used as an annexe to my old school (Churchfield High School), this was in the early fifties.

Well done to Triumph for choosing a local girl for their ads. I wonder if it would happen today?

Apols we have a few Triumph threads so not sure which one to post this one in but this cracker was uncovered by CliffB rarely showing a pre-war interior shot of the Priory St Works - The shipping department of the Triumph Works in Priory Street, dispatching Tiger 100's to Melbourne. 1939

Here's a great new find of the Meriden Factory - If you look back to my post #83 you can see the same spot where Steve McQueen was trying his bike!
